design update... [24 Apr 2006|10:49am]
Just an FYI... I had posted earlier looking for a new name for my design business...

Well, after some thought and great ideas from others I have decided with verticalskystudios.com

There is a whole process involved with this transition, but my goal is that I will have everything running by the beginning of June. This also includes some major advertising efforts on my behalf, and actually work on building my design business instead of just waiting for the "next" client.

well, well, well.. [24 Apr 2006|10:45am]
So where have I been? It's a question I often ask myself... I'm finding that these entries (although could be read by anyone willing to do so) are more of a reference for myself to check in the future.

Even though it seems like I write about the same stuff.... like web design blah, blah, blah.... and this and that yada, yada, yada... Well, I am going to try to be more real about where I am at Spiritually and Personally... so with that said...

The crazy thing of it all, is that I'm not crazy at all...

Most of you know that I do web/graphic design as a part time thing and am hoping to go full time with it one of these days.

Anyways, I currently have 2 design studios that I am running, one is called "snsstudio" and the other is "ocnydesign"... I am looking to combine the 2 in the near future and am looking on feedback for a good name for the business.

I have a few ideas of my own, but I will refrain from posting them because I don't want ppl "borrowing" the name before I register it.

So... if you have any good ideas or even bad ones, please feel free to send them my way. If I happen to choose the name that you came up with I will hook you up with a free cd or something nice that you can write home to mom about....

back from the O.C [27 Mar 2006|11:05pm]
Well, Pam and I are back from California... it was such an awesome trip! Some parts that we visited were not very impressive, but then there were parts of Cali that were "Sweet" (for a lack of a better word).

Anyways, I know I've been a major slacker when it comes to updating this thing... I'm really considering to change this to more of a "devotional" blog... really just focusing on how God is working in my life, and just sharing it to whomever cares to read.

Alot of stuff is going on (like normal) And I guess perhaps one day in the near future I will take the time to update, but until then....

Cali here I come... [18 Mar 2006|11:54pm]
Just finished packing my bags for California, Pam and I will be leaving tomorrow right after Sunday Morning services. We are departing from Newark, New Jersey around 3:30 and should be in Cali by 9:00.

One of my co-workers said that I'm kind of cutting it close by waiting to leave after church. I stated that I was not going to "sacrifice" church to make my plane. She thought that was pretty interesting and said that she needs to go to church more... it's amazing what we can use as a "witness" to others.

Anyways, the puppy is doing good, she has already grown so much in just the 2 weeks that we have had her. She is probably going to seem so much bigger when we get back in a week. Well, Heather better take pics...

Peace out my homies...

ode to the update... [11 Mar 2006|10:49am]
It's amazing how fast time can go without updating... It's not that I'm concerned in people are reading this entries or not, it's the fact that I actual enjoy looking back at things I wrote no matter how stupid some of the stuff may be. I think my main focus on this journal is to record more of my spiritual journey, as I struggle with the rest of the world to live the life that God given to me.

Great things are happening! However, to go into too much detail will not be that beneficial for anyone at this point. I will say that God is awesome and it's amazing that He places in our paths!!

As far as my web/graphic design future is concerned, I am contiuning to pursue growth in this area, but at the same time... I am looking at exactly what that is going to look at based on what God has placed in my life at the moment.

taking it one day at a time

yea, okay, sure... [24 Feb 2006|12:46am]
So I'm up waiting for 1am to come, so I can see what "item" will be posted on woot.com I wasn't really planning on staying up for this, but I have been finishing up a site for a client that I needed done by tomorrow (well... today) I finished up about 15 minutes ago, and decided that since I am already up, I might as well wait for a few more minutes...

Anyways, this is a great time to update, considering that I haven't in a little while... work has been crazy this past week.. really don't want to get into much detail, but so far this week I have had a chair thrown at me, been punched in the face, have had my arms scratched up, and have been spat at, sworn at, threatened, and other not so nice gestures... Now most of this is normal in my job, but it just seems a little more intense this week...

The best thing about this week though took place this past weekend... I was able to lead a co-worker to Christ! I have been witnessing and praying for her for about 5 years now. God really just put some things in her life that really made her seek Him. I'm just so excited that God allowed me the opportunity to witness to her... It's so sweet!! Pam and I went out and bought her a bible, and she is starting to read it.. She had a lot of questions, but that's to be expected. Now I am praying that she will come to church with us this Sunday.

official cali news.. [08 Feb 2006|09:55am]
It's offcial, I'm going to Cali next month! An opportunity came up for my wife and I to go to California next month for a youth ministry conference. I didn't think we would be able to afford it, but after some prayer, God answered by allowing some one to step up and offer to pay for all our expenses (plane tickets, motel, and car rental!) Totally Sweet!!! So we are off to the West Coast to pimp our ride... well, okay, not the ride part, but we are going to the West Coast..

I got a call last night asking if I could fill in for a preacher in Newburgh this coming Sunday evening. It will be a cool opportunity to preach at another church, a good learning experience.

Alright, still praying about getting a dog....

can I get a woot, woot... [06 Feb 2006|10:19am]
Do you woot? Check out woot.com it's a little place where they offer one item a day for sale... sometimes you can get a really good deal, or be the first person to buy a product not offered anywhere else. The catch is that they only offer 1 item a day and the quantities are limited. They post a new item at 12am central time (so that's 1 in the morning for us folks in Eastern Standard Time) and if it is a really good woot, it's sold out in just a few minutes...

I made my first woot today, buying a blood pressure monitor... wouldn't think I would need one of those at my age, but the docs told me to monitor my blood pressure on a daily basis....

So last night about 30 of us gathered together to watch the superbowl and when I say superbowl I mean the commercials. I was actually pretty disappointed with most of the commercials... for the most part, they were just plain stupid. Not stupid funny, but just stupid. The game wasn't that bad though...go steelers!

The family that were hosting the game last night have a Boston Terrier who just had puppies. They are offering to give my wife and I one of the puppies for free... which is awesome, because the puppies are pure bred and have their papers and everything (which means they are worth $$$). Now I just have to convince my wife to let me have a dog...

tip #1: puppies make great valentine's gifts

even when my eyes are dry... [04 Feb 2006|09:23am]
This is what I was made to do, I exist for you. And so the cookie crumbles and a new adventure begins. Stretching forth my hand over darken waters I see, something in the distant reaching for me.

cali? [31 Jan 2006|10:43pm]
An opportunity to go to California has just presented itself this evening... It will only be for a week, but I've never been that far West. Which is kind of weird b/c as missionaries we have almost been to every state, but we didn't get out the the West Coast that much.. maybe I can pimp my ride while I'm over there.

I guess that is, "If I go there". A youth pastor friend called me today and invited me to go with him to Youth Conference in March... would be pretty sweet, I just have to pay for airfare and motel expenses... Anyways, something to pray about, but it would be awesome, Kutless will be leading worship... sweet band...

I guess we will just have to wait and see....

waiting to see

TIVO... [29 Jan 2006|10:40pm]
Tivo is back! Not sure how I lived without it... imagine going through life not being able to digital record all your favorite shows with just a touch of a button? Yea, it's hard to imagine, but that's what I went through the past couple of months. I'm not sure how I made it through, but I did... I appreciate everyone's support during this time of "no tivo". I couldn't of done it without you...

Instant Gratification [27 Jan 2006|04:12pm]
Ever experience that urge for instant gratification? For instance, I sent an email out this morning, and even though I know that the majority of people that I sent it to, won't receive until later on today, I still want an instant response. So, therefore, I check my email like every other 5 minutes (or whenever I get a chance) yet, to my demise, there is no response...

You know that someone will respond eventually, but then there is that chance that they don't respond at all... so you sit and wait, and hopefully your inbox will receive that one email pertaining to your previous email.

So that urge for instant gratification remains, yet it never comes in an instant.

bumping heads... [25 Jan 2006|09:59am]
It's funny to see what happens when you put 2 people together that are web/graphic designers, but both totally have different views and styles. I have been working with a friend of mine redesigning our church's website. It's been going okay, but we keep on "bumping heads" when it comes to certain parts of the design. It's not too bad, and I think we are both learning from each other... It's just funny to see the views of different "artists".

So I'm currently working on our church's site as well as doing some paying jobs. I'm currently working for a doctor who needs a small site that will lead to another more secure site. Anyways, first draft is up and you can check it out here Precision Health Inc. Let me know what you think...

So I worked out last night for the first time in 3 months. I have been taking it easy since my surgery, and now am finally back at 100%. Anyways, it felt great to work out, even though I feel completely out of shape... I think I've gained about 15 pounds since my surgery...

Alright, I'm looking forward to tonight, we are in the 3rd part of our Sweet Dating Skills series, it's been awesome topic so far...

getting organized.. [22 Jan 2006|05:23pm]
This morning pastor preached a great message on "getting organized" which really looked at our priorities and what things are important to us. It's great because it seems that everything that I talk about during our Sunday Morning Wake Up Call always goes with the worship hour. I talked about "self-discipline" which also looks at your priorities, etc... It was suggested that we call our Sunday School time, Sunday Morning Warm Up b/c it always gives an intro to what pastor is preaching about...

On a totally different note, I bought a new computer yesterday. I should receive it in about a week or so... Really didn't expect to buy one when I did, but ended up getting a great deal and my current laptop is starting to go... anyways, God once again provided...

Read? what... [21 Jan 2006|10:21am]
So the other day I wrote my 5 "fav" cd's of the moment... but, it seems that some think I can't read, and just to let all those peeps out there... I actually do read on a consistent basis (just don't tell anyone...) So, Here are my top 5 books of the moment.

note: I am not including the Bible in my top 5, it's #1, but I wanted to share the top 5 besides the Bible List...

1. Visioneering "God's blueprint for developing and maintaining personal vision" by Andy Stanley

2. 7 Fatal Distractions "Overcoming obstacles that mess up our lives" by Ed Young

3. Taming a Liger "Unexpected spiritual lessons from Napoleon Dynamite" by Jeff Dunn & Adam Palmer

4. Courageous Leadership "Are you a 360 Degree Leader?" by Bill Hybels

5. 1000 Graphic Elements "Details for distictive designs" by Wilson Harvey

Okay, so the last one on the list contains a lots of pics, but I'm proud to say that the first 4 are basically all text...

Now with this sudden outbreaks of top "5" lists, perhaps I should list my top 5 underwear brands tomorrow. . .

"Melk" does a body good... [20 Jan 2006|10:22pm]
So I have a little speech impediment... I blame it on Canada...

I have a little trouble saying words such as "Milk" which sounds like "Melk" when I say it. As well as saying the word "Wolf" which I'm not sure how it sounds when I say it, but I know it's not right at all.

So my wife has been helping me learn the "right" way to say those words, and I think I have "Milk" down, but I can't say "wolf" for the life of me... anyways, I'll keep practicing, and perhaps one of these days I will be able to speak like a normal person (then again, I don't do normal that often...)
